Back2Back is serving vulnerable children around the world by providing holistic orphan care . . . and you can help! Start a fundraising campaign for Back2Back and be a voice for orphaned and vulnerable children! With a little creativity you can develop a fundraiser that’s fun for you and your friends.
This is your opportunity to be creative. What do you love? What are your favorite activities or hobbies? What are you passionate about? Do you enjoy photography? Raffle off a free portrait session and donate the proceeds to Back2Back. Enjoy making jewelry? Host a jewelry sale at a local craft fair and donate the proceeds to Back2Back. Have a passion for cooking? Plan a dinner party fundraiser. Are you a running enthusiast? Join a 5k and collect pledges for Back2Back for your participation. Recently, a high-school student raised funds on behalf of Back2Back by hosting a video-game competition in his school gymnasium. The options are limitless!
Plan your own fundraising campaign in a few simple steps:
1. Create your fundraiser
This is where you have a chance to be creative and design a fundraiser that works for you! What are you passionate about? What type of fundraiser would you like to host? Consider a silent auction, bake or craft sale, raffle, read-a-thon, car wash, contest or garage sale. Identify which method best merges with your interests and passions.
2. Spread the word
Promote your fundraiser to your friends and family by emailing your friends, posting on Facebook and Twitter, and talking it up. Be sure to let everyone know why the orphan care cause is important to you! Remember to thank the donors who are giving to your campaign and keep them updated on the impact of their gift!
Here are some resources to help you promote your event:
Posters are simple visuals to communicate basic information and capture a person’s attention. Modify our sample in Microsoft Word to enter the information about your fundraiser in the space provided. Information such as date, time and location are crucial.
Flyers are great to distribute at a gathering or event and also fit nicely inside a church bulletin. Open the file in Microsoft Word and enter the information (front and back) about your fundraiser in the space provided. Information such as date, time, and location are crucial. If you are raising money for a specific purpose (e.g. books for the children at a specific home) be sure to include that information as well.
Send a letter on Back2Back letterhead to spread the word about your fundraiser. Letters work well with pledge drive type fundraisers such as “walk-a-thons.” Be sure to include the date, time and location of your fundraiser, as well as details about the specific purpose of your fundraiser if you have one (e.g. books for the children at a specific home). Consider enclosing a donation card (see info below).
Use donation cards if they are appropriate for the type of fundraiser you’re planning. For example, a “walk-a-thon” might be a good candidate for donation cards, but a silent auction probably wouldn’t. If you don’t plan to use the donation card, have participants make their checks out to Back2Back Ministries and give them to you, and then at the end of the fundraiser you can turn them in. Donors can also give online.
Promote your fundraising campaign via your social media networks. Post the image and give details about your fundraiser. Use the cover photo on your profile or as an event photo. Utilize your social network and ask friends to share your post to get the word out!
The 4×6 postcard is very versatile: you can print them at your favorite photo printer and send them as postcard invitations. You can put one on a card and send it as a thank you. You can send an email invitation with the postcard attached.
Ask those who have already made a donation to help promote your campaign to their family and friends. This will allow you to tap into a larger network of people!
Take time to celebrate and send a follow-up update to your donors to let them know about the success of your fundraiser! Know that through your partnership Back2Back is able to serve orphans around the world. Thank you for making an impact in the lives of orphaned children! We would love to see how you’re making an impact. Send photos from your fundraiser to email@example.com.
